About the book

In Egypt around 2589 BCE, during the reign of King Khufu, seventeen-year-old Idu, a Nile farmer's son with a gift for measuring distances, angles, and weights, is sent with his father to the vast pyramid project rising on the desert plateau. When his father dies in what appears to be an accident involving a stone shipment, Idu begins to suspect that the death was no accident. Determined to learn the truth, he enters the dangerous world of royal construction, where corruption, ambition, and the lives of ordinary workers are at stake. Over nearly two decades, he must navigate deadly engineering problems, betrayals, and political intrigue.
